Connect
The MCP server's address, how it signs you in, and the setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and Codex.
The MCP server speaks streamable HTTP at:
https://mcp.webmati.com/mcp
Signing in with an API key
The server takes a workspace API key in the header
Authorization: Bearer wmk_….
- In the admin, open a website ▸ Settings ▸ API Keys ▸ create a key. Choose its scopes: a tool whose scope the key lacks is refused (a full-access key can do everything).
- Copy the key right away (it starts with
wmk_and is shown once). Treat it like a password: never paste it into a chat or commit it to git. - If the workspace has several websites, add the header
X-Store-Slug: <slug>(orX-Store-Id: <id>) to pick the website for the session. With a single website you do not need it.
The examples below use wmk_… for the key and my-shop for the website's slug:
replace them with yours.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http shop https://mcp.webmati.com/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer wmk_…" \
--header "X-Store-Slug: my-shop"
Add --scope user to use it in every project, --scope project to write it to a
.mcp.json the team shares.
Cursor
~/.cursor/mcp.json (every project) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project):
{
"mcpServers": {
"shop": {
"url": "https://mcp.webmati.com/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer wmk_…",
"X-Store-Slug": "my-shop"
}
}
}
}
Codex
~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.shop]
url = "https://mcp.webmati.com/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "SHOP_MCP_KEY"
http_headers = { "X-Store-Slug" = "my-shop" }
Put the key in the environment before you start Codex:
export SHOP_MCP_KEY=wmk_…
Claude Desktop and claude.ai
claude.ai's connectors (and the Connectors section of Claude Desktop) sign in with
OAuth only and cannot send an API key. For Claude Desktop, connect through
mcp-remote in the configuration file
(it needs Node.js):
- macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json - Windows:
%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"shop": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.webmati.com/mcp",
"--header", "Authorization:${SHOP_AUTH}",
"--header", "X-Store-Slug:my-shop"
],
"env": { "SHOP_AUTH": "Bearer wmk_…" }
}
}
}
Restart Claude Desktop after saving.
Check it
Ask the AI: "call get_context". It answers with the website, the theme it is editing and whether the website sells. The right website there means you are done.
When the server gets new tools or skills, reconnect in the client to see them: clients keep the tool list per session.
